Character Personality:
At first glance Demi appears to be self righteous and uncaring for the suffering of those around her. Upon closer inspection you'd find this was the absolute truth. Demi considers all currently living sentient beings to either be incomplete, imperfect or overly complicated. With this view of life, she seeks the possibility of an ideal species or race. Her thoughts on the core of this problem is fairly basic. Humans are too focused on life, death, and personal gratification to fully embrace their potential and realize it. She sees the potential for perfection only in the purification of each individual. This is her ideal, and she is willing to steal, kill and destroy to have it realized. Without remorse, Demi has warped and destroyed many people in order to perfect her process of doing this and the thought has left her cold to everything but her ideal. She has no compassion for anyone who is not striving for the ideal.
Character History:
Born into a world of science, alchemy and magic, Demi and her sister Deva were taught in the arts of all three from a very early age. Their rather steam-punk world was peaceful and yet for all its peace it's people were not content. Many strive to create an Elixir of Eternal life, others sought to turn common rocks into riches. And still others went seeking after other kinds of power; control over human lives, time and that illusory thing titled "Fame".
Sucked into the worlds of society and grandeur, the girls were taught many experimental sciences by their teachers as well as traditional magics. At age 12, as was tradition, the girls were separated from a large class into smaller apprenticeships. It was unexpected that the girls would pass examinations to go into different apprentice categories, but not enough to cause a great concern. Deva had excelled in Alchemy, particularly the type of Alchemy used with steam machinery, which fascinated her to no end. Great airships and mysterious clockwork were her boon. Demi, on the other hand, had excelled in both Magic and Science, in particular, anatomic study and the flow and control of energies that surrounded and filled a body.
Five years into their apprenticeships and the girls had already made names for themselves under their given masters. Demi studied in a fashion almost as a nun or miko, as a spiritual healer as well as a physical one. Her insights into the flowing of energies through the body, both malevolent and benevolent were far beyond her years. No one yet knows for certain what it was that caused her shift from a warm and caring nurse to a cold and monstrous, single minded, anti-compassionate shadow of humanity, but no one could deny the truth her hideous experiments had unveiled.
Humans were not of one piece, but of many. Demi had unlocked the secret of what made a person. The Five Parts of a Whole was a truly amazing discovery. Even more amazing was the idea that one could remove one or more of these parts with them still livably intact.
Character's Physical Description:
Quotes:
"Perfection is an art. I do not claim to be a critic or a masterpiece. I am simply the painter putting the final touches to you."
"...Vital instinct... Xanatos instinct... Life death lifedeath... Useless... useless to me... subtract... life... death... past... future dreams... and contentment... divinity... is what remains...the secret perfection..."
"Only divine things are worth my time. You are not worth anything, especially not my time."
Roleplaying Sample:
She smiled as she slid her hand down the dusty glass of the box window. This building had once been full of people and music. It had been a sanctuary for something divine... a reach by creatures imperfect for perfection. A theater where people put on grand spectacles to forget for the moment that it was all time wasted that they would never have back. The laughter could almost be heard at this very moment, despite that no one had used this theater in years. But it was perfect for what Demi had planned.
The raven haired enchantress walked from the shielded box to the stage, down the long isles that had crushed velvet seats on both sides, taking in the dusty molding on the pillars and walls and the tatters in the large curtain still shadowing the stage.
Soon, this place that had been a sanctuary to fleeting divinity would become the birthplace of true perfection and power. She grinned to herself as the door opened behind her.
"Ah... sister... I'm so glad you could make time to see me..." her eyes glowed dangerously as she pulled out her staff. "What do you believe? Can a sentient being... ever really become... divinity?"
