Was everything back to normal? Kairi wished she could answer positive to that question. But her gut instinct thought otherwise. There was something over the horizon, there had to be. This couldn’t be over just yet...It was an awful feeling that she could not shake off. No matter how much she tried to tell herself that everything was fine now they were all here. Together at last. But how long would that truly last? She could not be certain. Nor did she feel like thinking about that at the moment. Sitting in her room, Kairi gazed out into the warm day, wondering if there was any point in venturing outside.
The answer became easy, as she needed a bit of fresh air. Maybe she would see Sora on her way or Riku. That thought got her going, although she dared not to tell them her own fears. Neither did she want to think of them going through all that again. It was not an easy journey, but they got there. And now to be paranoid of a new threat. It was all too much to really comprehend. Keeping it inside seemed to do the trick, although it always played on her mind, especially when she was alone.
Wandering outside, she let the warm rays gently radiate on her bare arms. Pure bliss...all that was missing was the constant chatter of her friends. Whom were nowhere to be seen. Perhaps they were at home, that had to be it. Her mindless gander had taken her over to the other island, just as it began to hit sunset already.
The hours in the days grew shorter, she had just realized. Her auburn hair swayed slightly in the cool breeze, as her shoes scuffed along the sand now. She had spent many of her happy childhood days here. Just playing, not even thinking of what the next day would bring. No worries, just care-free young teenagers. Oh how so much had happened over the last couple of years. Her days were filled with uncertainty, even now as she strode across the beach. But she needn’t have worried. As it was pretty much empty at this time.
Taking a seat on the empty tree branch, her blue eyes scanned the shoreline. So peaceful, it had to be all over, right?

She arrived just in time to watch the sun drown in the sea. The orange globe seemed to struggle to stay afloat before her, only a sliver of it left to make the sky around it a magenta, the clouds that dared to hang near were gilded in gold, but they were few. the sea was changing from it's normal docile blue green to deep and fathomless purple.
But none of these things had her attention. Black tendrils of hair blew behind her as the tide began to come in. The moon, she was sure, was hanging above, watching it's companion sink without so much as a tear. But the only concern this drew her was that she may have difficulty reading the small device she had in her hand.
Pushing her hair behind one ear, her dark brown eyes of almost brandy color pierced into the little machine. Such a remarkable thing, this machine. Able to pinpoint the purest of hearts. This creation was sure to lead her to the heart she needed to finish her experiment. She was certain of it.
She slowly turned so that the blinking light was directly ahead of her. The signal was strong now. Stronger than it had ever been before. Her eyes slide out over the beach and the ocean, up to the tiny island that stood just beyond the larger one's reach. A small, nearly feral grin graced the otherwise icy features of the woman.
She made her way up to the island by way of the bridge. Barely making a sound, her tread was covered by the thrashing of the sea. Her heart beat in a flurry of excitement. Finally... Finally! FINALLY! She could see the back of a person sitting on a strangely shaped tree, red hair whipping wildly in the nearly-night wind.
The sun gave one last liquid shimmer of light before it disappeared into the sea, replaced by the silver sliver hanging precariously above, shining like the blade of a scythe, leaving blood like shadows and uncertainty where once golden glow had existed.
Sliding the device into a pocket, Demi approached the girl, her face hidden by the moon shadows cast by her hair, her outfit covered by a red cloak, not revealing anything underneath, the hood down to reveal her ink black tendrils of hair that swung down to her waist.
"A pleasant night for a walk, isn't it?" Demi's voice came in a whisper almost. Her eyes studied her target intensely, fueled by curiosity.
What powers did one with a pure heart possess in human form? Were they worth observation? Would the creature flee and force her to give chase? Some dark, sadistic part of her hoped so.
In her pocket, the device began reacting again, quietly vibrating. Assuming it was only the girl, Demi ignored it.
